Mike Burgess is serving his fourth term as a Kansas state representative for the 51st district. The 51st district includes parts of north and west Shawnee county and southern Wabaunsee county.

Mike is a member of three standing committees. He serves on the Utilities and Transportation committees, and serves as vice chair of the Government Efficiency & Fiscal Oversight Committee. He also serves as a member of the Joint Committee on Information Technology.

Mike is president of Spinnaker, LLC, a Web design and hosting company located in Topeka, Kan. Spinnaker designs, hosts and provides consulting services for a wide range of clients, including businesses, associations, and not-for-profit groups.

Mike has been active member of his community and the communications industry. He is a former board member of the Shawnee County Fair Association and also previously served as the chair of the Technology Section of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA).

Mike earned a bachelor's degree in journalism with an emphasis in public relations and a minor in economics from Kansas State University.
